Integrated Financial Management Information Systems


The FEI team advises governments on the procurement and implementation of appropriate levels of technology and information system applications to manage their varied processes and to improve the delivery of sustainable services.

The FEI team excels at:

  • Evaluating policies and strategies related to IFMIS for central and local governments

FEI provides services with regard to integrated financial management information systems (IFMIS) for the public sector. The use of IFMIS is a growing trend for governments, particularly in developing counties, as governments attempt to improve their financial control and reporting to meet the increasing demands for accountability from their citizens and from the international community. IFMIS includes all public financial management processes including budget implementation, accounting, and reporting, and may extend to other processes such as asset management, revenue management, and payroll. Governments have to make choices regarding which processes to cover and need to be mindful of the costs associated with these choices. FEI assists governments to make informed choices and to implement IFMIS solutions that most suit their requirements in a sustainable manner. FEI assists governments to:

  • Develop cost-effective strategies for IFMIS implementation
  • Revise policy, legal, and institutional frameworks of governments in preparation of IFMIS projects
  • Prepare appropriate financial classifications systems and charts of account for financial management systems
  • Revise and prepare appropriate financial internal control systems
  • Undertake client requirement needs studies in preparation for IFMIS
  • Develop tender documents and manage tender processes
  • Assess the appropriateness of IFMIS packages to meet client needs
  • Prepare government institutions for IFMIS implementation including developing and implementing strategies for capacity development and change management
